May Crowning honors Mary

The 8th grade led us in our annual May Crowning Mass. May Crowning is a traditional Roman Catholic ritual held during the month of May. It is a solemn procession. At the close of the procession our church statue of the Blessed Virgin in the church is crowned with a crown of flowers honoring Mary as “the Queen of May.” There is a special honor attached to the 8th graders being chosen to crown the statue.
