Learning & Instruction

Assumption School is known throughout the community for its high academic standards and its academic excellence. From Kindergarten through the eighth grade, teachers are dedicated to using a variety of learning strategies to meet the needs of all students. There is ongoing articulation and collaboration among teachers of different grade levels and subject levels.

The curriculum at Assumption School adheres to the guidelines set by the Diocese of Oakland and the State of California. The curriculum includes daily lessons in religion, mathematics, English, literature, social studies, science and technology skills, as well as weekly lessons in art, music, coding, and physical education.

Assumption eighth graders graduate fully prepared to meet the rigorous expectations of all the local Catholic high schools. Many of our graduates qualify for advanced placement and honors classes in Math, English and Social Studies.

Assumption School is fully accredited by the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. (WASC). Over the years, the school has always earned the full six-year accreditation. A self-study and visitation by the WCEA/WASC team took place most recently in the spring of 2017. Again, the full six-year accreditation was awarded to Assumption School.
