Volume 7/Issue 13 Assumption Life October 22, 2025
Our Mission
We are Assumption Catholic School, a ministry of the Church of the Assumption. As a diverse community, we excel in academics and model Christ where each individual is safe, nurtured, respected, and treasured.
Together we pray
Heavenly Father,
We gather today to take strides against breast cancer. We lift up in prayer all the survivors who have walked this path before us, and all those currently battling this disease.
We pray for healing, for strength, and for peace for their bodies, minds, and spirits. May they feel your presence as they navigate their journey.
Thank you for the caregivers, researchers, and medical professionals who provide support and care. Inspire them with wisdom, compassion, and skill.
We celebrate the courage of those who walk this path, and we pray that our steps today, and our collective efforts, will bring us closer to a cure.
We ask for your grace to bring hope to all who are affected, and to remind us that even in our struggles, we are never alone.
In Your name, we pray. Amen
Together we can
Mistakes
See mistakes as opportunities for learning.
1) Respond to mistakes with compassion and kindness instead of shame, blame, or lectures.
2) When appropriate, use curiosity questions to help your child "explore" the consequences of her choices.
3) During dinner time invite everyone to share a mistake they made during the day and what they learned from it.
Virtue of the month
The virtue of Moderation Moderation means: Attention to balance in one’s life.
Sacred Scripture:
Ecclesiastes 3:1
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:

Dear Friends and Families of Assumption School,
What a joyful and full week we have ahead! There’s so much happening across our school and parish community, and I’m so grateful for your energy, participation, and support.
Today only, the Cathedral of Christ the Light in Oakland is displaying the relics of St. Thérèse of Lisieux for public veneration. This is a beautiful and rare opportunity to experience the presence of the “Little Flower,” whose life of simplicity and love continues to inspire us. If you and your family have the chance, I encourage you to visit and spend a few moments in prayer.
This week also marks the kickoff of our Annual Fun Run, our second major fundraiser of the school year! The Fun Run will take place on November 12 during the school day, and it’s one of our students’ favorite events—full of stretching, music, cheers, and lots of fun. Families have already received their fundraising links to share with friends and relatives to help reach your goals.
Every dollar makes a difference, helping us bridge the gap between tuition and the true cost of educating a student—about $1,000 more per child than tuition covers. Your support keeps our specialty classes, instructional assistants, field trips, Makers Space, Library blocks, and Living Lab thriving. Thank you for being a part of what makes our school so vibrant and full of life.
This Saturday, our Dads Club is hosting the annual Trunk or Treat—a favorite Assumption tradition! Bring your costumes, your creativity, and your community spirit for an evening of fun and friendship. It’s always a great time and a perfect lead-up to Halloween week.
Speaking of Halloween—next Friday, October 31, our school will celebrate with the annual Halloween Parade, beginning promptly at 8:30 a.m. outside. We can’t wait to see what SLT has planned to bring the fun! Room Parents have already sent reminders about how to participate in our Class Parties, so please check your Room Parent communication for details.
Finally, a quick reminder that multiple classes have been attending field trips this month. We’re grateful to all the parents who volunteer to drive and chaperone, helping extend learning beyond our classroom walls. When students are dismissed from a field trip location rather than being returned to the school, they should go home directly from there—we’re unable to provide supervision back at school after the trip ends. Most field trips have transportation from the school to the event and back where we can provide Extended Care for families, but if a field trip requires parents to drop off and pick up at the location, we will be unable to provide at school supervision at the end of the field trip. Thank so much for your help.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Our community continues to grow stronger because of your faith, generosity, and joy. Together, we can do great things.
In Christ,
Lana Rocheford
Principal

Hey, congrats! You got to the end. Way to go! Fun fact:
Modern trick-or-treating might have its roots in a medieval practice called "souling." Instead of candy, costumed "soulers" (often the poor) would go to homes and receive "soul cakes." In return, they would offer prayers for the family's deceased loved ones.
