Volume 6/Issue 35 Assumption Life May 7, 2025
Our Mission
We are Assumption Catholic School, a ministry of the Church of the Assumption. As a diverse community, we excel in academics and model Christ where each individual is safe, nurtured, respected, and treasured.
Together we pray
Heavenly Father, We thank You for the dedicated teachers, administrators, and staff of Assumption School. You have called them to the sacred mission of nurturing hearts, enlightening minds, and guiding our children in Your truth and love.
Bless them with wisdom, patience, and strength. Renew their spirit when they grow weary, and fill them with joy as they witness the growth of the students in their care.
May their work always reflect Your light, and may they find comfort in knowing they are shaping lives for Your glory. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Together we can
Empower Your Kids
Share control with children so they can develop skills to have power over their own lives.
1) Teach life skills.
2) Focus on solutions together.
3) Have faith in your children.
4) Let go (in small steps).
5) Increase self awareness by asking:
"How do you feel? What do you think? How does this affect what you want in your life?"
Virtue of the week
Generosity
Definition of Generosity: Giving of oneself in a willing and cheerful manner for the good of others
Prayer for Generosity: Dear Jesus, let me share myself with others as You share Your life with me.
Generosity Looks Like:
- Spending time with someone else
- Smiling
- Thinking of others first
- Sharing with someone
- Bringing food to the poor
Generosity Sounds Like:
- Would you like to play with me?
- Silence
- I will push you on the swing first.
- Would you like this?
- I gave food to the poor.

Graduation
Graduation Ceremony
Graduation from elementary school is marked by a simple and dignified celebration that gives recognition to the unique value of the Christian education just completed. Graduation shall take place no earlier than the week preceding the closure of school.
Graduation Attire and Etiquette
Appropriate attire should be worn for the occasion: dress shirts, ties, and dress pants for boys; dress attire for girls is to be modest. Leis, balloons, and noisemakers are not permitted at the graduation liturgy or ceremony. Graduation gowns are rented by the school and must be returned at the end of the commencement ceremony in the school office.
Graduation Requirements
Eighth grade students must complete all academic requirements with a passing grade point average of 1.5 (70%) in seventh and eighth grades in order to receive a diploma from Assumption School. All fees must be paid, including tuition, extended care, family service, and fundraising, a week prior to the date of graduation in order for students to walk through the graduation ceremony or attend school-sponsored graduation events.

Dear Friends and Family of Assumption School,
On behalf of the faculty and staff, thank you for all the love during National Teacher Appreciation Week! We’ve been overwhelmed (in the best way) by your kind words, thoughtful cards, and, most of all, your wonderful kids. We are so lucky to be part of this community.
And yes—we also ask for a little grace for the fact that we’re celebrating Screen-Free Week at the same time. The struggle is real! If your house is anything like mine, going without screens has been a challenge, but also a good reminder of how much we all rely on them. Hang in there—screens return May 11. (Whew!)
Something else happened today that caught our attention—black smoke rose from the Sistine Chapel in Rome, signaling that the cardinals in the conclave haven’t selected a new pope yet. It's a powerful image and a reminder that big moments in the Church take time, discernment, and prayer. Our students are watching this with curiosity, and it’s been a great chance to talk about how these traditions connect us to the global Church.
We’re also gearing up for the Spring Concert next Wednesday, directed by Mr. Vaughan. The kids have been working so hard on their music, and I can’t wait to see them dressed up and ready to shine. Please have them arrive by 6:15 p.m. and head to their assigned seats—we’ll begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. The concert should last about an hour.
May is packed with activity: field trips, end-of-year socials, Spring CYO playoffs, 8th grade Rite of Passage interviews, SLT and Campus Ministry interviews, graduation prep—you name it. It's basically May-cember: all the chaos of December with none of the presents!
And finally, our Week of Giving incentives and joy are underway, and it’s going to be a month of fun. Tattoo a Teacher continues to make a lasting impression. We’ll have activities, themed days, and lots of opportunities to show our Assumption spirit. Keep an eye on the calendar and your inbox so you don’t miss a thing!
With love,
Lana Rocheford
Principal
