From May 5 to May 11, Assumption School will join schools and families nationwide in celebrating Screen-Free Week, a dedicated time to pause from digital devices and rediscover the joys of unplugged living. This annual event encourages students, teachers, and parents to take a break from televisions, tablets, phones, and computers to focus on building real-life connections, creativity, and community.
Throughout the week, classrooms will incorporate hands-on learning, outdoor activities, and collaborative games. Teachers are planning journaling exercises, board games, and more to inspire students to explore the world beyond their screens.
Parents are also invited to participate by limiting screen time at home and joining their children in alternative activities such as cooking together, reading, or simply going for a walk. Screen-Free Week is a reminder that some of the best moments happen when we look up.
Assumption School hopes this intentional time away from screens will spark new habits, refresh minds, and strengthen relationships—one unplugged moment at a time.
