Volume 6/Issue 38 Assumption Life May 21, 2025
Our Mission
We are Assumption Catholic School, a ministry of the Church of the Assumption. As a diverse community, we excel in academics and model Christ where each individual is safe, nurtured, respected, and treasured.
Together we pray
A Prayer of Gratitude for Our School Families
Loving God, We give thanks for the generous hearts of our school families. For every parent who offers their time, their talent, and their care, whether their efforts are visible or not, we are deeply grateful. Thank You for the support they provide to our teachers, the encouragement they give to their children, and the spirit of community they help to build each day. May their kindness be returned in joy. May their efforts be blessed with purpose. And may their presence continue to strengthen our shared mission. Together, may we keep growing in faith, partnership, and love.
Amen.
We hold Ms. Blum in prayer as she supports a family member experiencing illness.
Together we can
Encouragement vs. Praise
Teach self-reliance instead of dependence on others.
Encouragement invites self-evaluation.
Praise invites children to become
"approval junkies."
Examples:
Praise: "I am so proud of you. Here is your reward."
Encouragement: "You worked hard. You must be so proud of yourself."
Praise: "You are such a good girl."
Encouragement: "Thanks for helping."
Virtue of the week
Gratitude
Also known as: Thanksgiving
Definition of Gratitude: Thankful disposition of mind and heart
Prayer for Gratitude: Dear Jesus, please give me a thankful heart, realizing that all I have comes from You.
Gratitude Looks Like: Smiling at your mom after she cooks dinner
Gratitude Sounds Like: Thank you, Mom, for this delicious dinner.

Dear Friends and Families of Assumption School,
As we head into the final weeks of the school year, I want to take a moment to share some exciting celebrations, important updates, and a look ahead as we prepare for a strong finish and a restful summer.
🎉 Trojans Take the Win! Diocesan Sports Highlights
Congratulations to our 6th grade girls basketball team, who won the Diocese Championship against St. Leo on Tuesday night! The girls demonstrated excellence in sportsmanship, teamwork, competition, and skill. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and representation of our Trojan values. We enjoyed cheers from the crowd to "let Assumption cook." I am assured this is a good thing.
Let’s also celebrate the accomplishments of all our student-athletes who played in finals and tournaments last weekend and who also "cooked":
Thank you to our coaches, families, and students for a spirited season. Go Trojans!

📚 Summer Bridge to Success
As summer approaches, we are mindful of the real effects of summer learning loss—especially in reading and math. Letters have gone home to families in grades 2–7 for students recommended or required to engage in a Summer Bridge Program based on teacher input and STAR scores.
Options include:
-
Local Catholic school summer programs
-
Tutoring sessions
-
A Summer Bridge workbook, which must be completed and returned to teachers at the start of the school year.
With continued impacts of the pandemic on student learning, especially in study habits, math fluency, and reading comprehension, we strongly encourage families to take this opportunity seriously. If you have questions, please connect with your child’s teacher for support.
