2025 Cherry Festival

The San Leandro Cherry Festival is a long-standing community tradition celebrating San Leandro's past, present, and future.

The first festival was held on June 5, 1909, when cherry production was so great that San Leandro got dubbed “The Cherry City.” Assumption School plans to have a big presence at the Cherry Festival this year, just as we have in years past.

We will begin building and decorating our float during the week of June 2. Then we will gather on June 7 for the Cherry Festival parade - and have a booth at the Festival. This fun-filled day for the whole family kicks off bright and early at 10 am with a parade that starts at the San Leandro BART station.

If your child would like to ride in the Assumption float, please note you will have to arrive that morning at the San Leandro BART station by 9:15 am. The parade runs less than 1/2 a mile and ends at the main branch San Leandro library parking lot. Assumption School will have a truck pulling our gorgeous float packed with our beautiful students while parents, family, and friends parade behind.

After you join Assumption School, Assumption CYO, and Assumption Parish in the parade, please stop by to say hi to familiar faces at our booth that will be at the festival from 11 am to 6 pm. Participating in the parade is totally free to us and it's a unique time when we get to gather as a whole community to show our pride for all things Assumption. It's also a joy filled way to begin wrapping up our school year.

We hope to see you there! Volunteers are needed to staff our festival booth. If you're looking to fill needed service hours before the end of this school year, this is a great way to earn your required hours.
