Dear Friends of Assumption School,

It is with gratitude and excitement that I introduce myself as the principal. I am honored to have been asked in April of 2019 by Fr. Leonard Marrujo and the Executive School Board to step into this role at a school known around the Diocese for its commitment to community, faith, and excellence.

I have worked for the Diocese of Oakland as an educator and administrator since 1998. During my time at Assumption School, I have worked as a teacher, grade level leader and proud parent to help lead the vision with past principals. I am excited to bring my unique skills of educational and faith-based leadership to continue building this community and enhance the work that has begun.

Since 2012, as Assumption School's 7th, then 8th grade homeroom teacher, I have thoroughly enjoyed celebrating our children's final steps at Assumption School. The Junior High team has sent graduates well prepared for their high schools and beyond. It is an excellent program not just fostered in junior high, but rather, from the moment they enter their first year of school. As a parent of two children here, I also bear witness to the rich and nurturing environment we provide for our younger students from transitional kindergarten on.

With our teachers, staff, parents, parish and community, I will work to continue and perpetuate the legacy of success at Assumption. We will continue to focus on the goals established in 2017 including the focus of the social/emotional well-being of our students, a rigorous and attainable curriculum, and the responsible integration of technology as a tool for higher learning.

As we enter into the future, I look forward to working with our Assumption and San Leandro communities as a team to help Assumption School thrive.

In Gratitude,

Lana Rocheford
