Volume 7/Issue 6 Assumption Life September 3, 2025
Our Mission
We are Assumption Catholic School, a ministry of the Church of the Assumption. As a diverse community, we excel in academics and model Christ where each individual is safe, nurtured, respected, and treasured.
Together we pray
Bl. Carlo Acutis Facts and Prayer
Carlo Acutis grew up in Italy, although he was born in London, England. He was born on May 3, 1991. After a battle with leukemia, Carlo died at the age of only 15 in 2006. Even though his life was very short, he had a great impact on the Church in his few years on Earth. In life and death, Carlo is remembered for his deep faith, his love for the Eucharist, and his commitment to using his talents for the benefits of others and the Church. His life story is an example of how young people can live a life of holiness and devotion, regardless of their age or circumstances.
Carlo Acutis was beatified on October 10, 2020, a significant step in the process of canonization, or the path towards sainthood. Carlo will become the first millennial saint on September7, 2025. His story continues to inspire millions worldwide.
Oh God, Our Father, thank you for giving us Carlo, a life example for the young and a message of love for everyone.
You made him become enamoured with Your Son Jesus, Making of the Eucharist his “Highway to Heaven”. You gave him Mary, as a most loving Mother, and, with the Rosary, you made him a poet of her tenderness. Receive his prayer for us. Above all, gaze upon the poor, whom he loved and helped. Grant for me too, by his intercession, the grace that I need ... And make our joy fulfilled, placing Carlo among the Saints of your Church, so that his smile may shine again for us in the glory of your name. Amen
Together we can
Jobs
Children learn life skills, develop social interest and feel capable by helping out at home.
1) Brainstorm a family job list together.
2) Create fun ways to rotate jobs, such as a job wheel with a spinner, job charts, or a job jar for "fishing" out two chores for the week.
3) Take time for job training do chores with them the first six years.
4) Discuss all problems at a family meeting and focus on solutions.
Virtue of the month: Respect
Respect means: Speaking and acting according to our own and others' rights, status, and circumstances
Prayer for Respect:
Dear Jesus, help me to show reverence to people who are in authority over me as I would to You. And help me give all persons the honor they deserve as Your unique creations.

Dear Friends and Family of Assumption School,
It has been a great three weeks of school, and I am so happy to see the smiling faces of our students each day. We are already building strong school habits—wearing our uniforms with pride (including those school sweatshirts), arriving on time and ready to learn, and practicing routines and procedures in the classrooms. Thank you for your support in helping your students start the year with success.
We are so pleased that our 8th grade and 4th grade classes led us in our first Mass of the school year. Thank you to our dedicated faculty and staff, Fr. John, the Knights of Columbus, Deacon Rigo, Mrs. Mary Schirmer, and all the parishioners and parents who helped us begin our year with a liturgy of faith and a focus on our community's safety.
This Friday marks the end of our STAR Benchmark assessments in Reading and Math. Teachers will use this data to set learning goals with students in preparation for our October Student-Parent-Teacher Conferences. Sign-ups for these conferences will be sent out in two weeks.
Looking ahead, our Fall Festival is in October, and we are excited to continue this tradition! Our Festival Committee—made up of amazing parent volunteers—does the planning, but we need every family to join in to make it a success. Families are asked to contribute at least five hours of service toward the Festival. All festival volunteers must have completed Virtus training and Livescan clearance. Since Livescan takes about three weeks to process, we encourage you to get it completed now so you’re cleared by October 3.
I am grateful, as always, for the teamwork and joy that define Assumption School. Together, we are off to a wonderful start to the year!
Sincerely,
Lana Rocheford Principal
Get cleared to volunteer at Assumption School
All adults working around or with kids MUST complete the following in order:
2. Complete the recommended training course that is on your Virtus Dashboard once registered.
3. Once completed, make an appointment at one of our Livescan vendors. We use Village Parcel and Post in San Lorenzo. They will have the form for you to fill out and will need to verify you with a legal form of identification (driver's license, state identification, passport).
Livescan takes about two - seven days to clear before any volunteering can take place.
Once all steps are completed, new volunteers in the 2025-2026 will receive a clearance approval from the school.
