Volume 6/Issue 27 Assumption Life Feb. 27, 2025
Our Mission
We are Assumption Catholic School, a ministry of the Church of the Assumption. As a diverse community, we excel in academics and model Christ where each individual is safe, nurtured, respected, and treasured.
Together we pray
"O God, thou art my God, I seek thee, my soul thirsts for thee; my flesh faints for thee, as in a dry and weary land where no water is. So I have looked upon thee in the sanctuary, beholding thy power and glory. Because thy steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise thee. So I will bless thee as long as I live; I will lift up my hands and call on thy name." Psalm 63:1-4
Together we can
Avoid Pampering
Parents make a mistake when they pamper in the name of love.
- Pampering creates weakness because children develop the belief that others should do everything for them.
- One of the greatest gifts you can give your children is to allow them to develop the belief, "I am capable."
- Children feel capable when they learn that they can survive the ups and downs of life.
Virtue of the week
Fortitude
Also known as: Courage
Fortitude Definition:
Enables one to endure difficulties for the sake of what is good.
Prayer for Fortitude:
Dear Jesus, alone I am weak, but with You I can do all things. Give me the grace to be strong against temptations and bold in proclaiming You and Your Church on earth. Amen

Gum
Gum can be a choking hazard to a child, and is difficult to remove from rugs and furniture. Students are, therefore, not permitted to chew gum on school grounds before, during, and after school.

Dear Family and Friends of Assumption School,
Auction Week is Here! It’s finally Auction week! I have my mask and my dancing shoes ... now for the bidding! You can actually start the bidding online by going to this link. We are looking forward to a wonderful evening of food, fun, and community at the March 1 Auction Gala. Thank you to everyone who contributed, from organizing Pay-to-Plays to helping students create special auction projects. Your support makes this event a success every year, helping our school thrive!
Eagle Scout Project Enhances Living Lab Ricky F., Class of 2024 and brother of Andy in 5th grade, is dedicating his Eagle Scout project to Assumption School by building a workbench for the Living Lab. This project will help students care for the raised garden beds and enhance our outdoor learning space. Ricky is hard at work bringing his vision to life—if you see him on the weekends working to build this bench, be sure to thank him for his efforts!
A Fun-Filled Weekend for Assumption Our 5th-grade boys' basketball team played an intense championship game, narrowly falling to Good Shepherd. Their incredible skills and teamwork made us all proud! Meanwhile, the Dads Club Family Crab Feed was a fantastic gathering for school and parish families, raising funds to improve the gym bathrooms.
Esports at Assumption? Esports is gaining popularity, and the Diocese is hosting an Esports Invitational featuring Super Mario Kart and Super Smash Brothers March 22. I am looking for a parent volunteer moderator who would be willing to help us with this effort! If you’re interested in helping launch an Esports team at Assumption, reach out to me for more details!
Celebrating Black History Month with a Special Author Visit We are thrilled to welcome Robert Liu Trujillo, a local artist and author, for a special visit on February 27. He will share his book Fresh Juice with K-3rd grade students and lead a discussion on art and creativity with 4th-6th graders.
Thank you for being part of our vibrant Assumption community!
All good things ... All good things!
Much love,
Lana Rocheford
Principal
