Volume 6/Issue 22 Assumption Life Jan. 22, 2025
Our Mission
We are Assumption Catholic School, a ministry of the Church of the Assumption. As a diverse community, we excel in academics and model Christ where each individual is safe, nurtured, respected, and treasured.
Together we pray
A Prayer for our Assumption School Community, as we prepare for Open House and Catholic Schools Week
God of Love and Mercy, We thank You for Your constant presence in our lives. May Your light continue to shine in our hearts, minds, and actions, and may Assumption School remain a place where we live the Gospel message. Help us to love one another as You have loved us, fostering a spirit of unity and kindness within our school community.
As we prepare for Open House and Catholic Schools Week, may all who enter our doors feel Your presence and be inspired by the love and joy we share. Bless our students, families, teachers, and staff, and guide us to be a place where faith and learning flourish together.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Together we can
Sense of Humor
Humor can help parents and children lighten up.
1) Remember to laugh and have fun.
2) "Here comes the tickle monster to get kids who don't pick up toys."
3) When kids are fighting, gently tackle them and say, "Pig Pile!"
4) Be sensitive to times when humor is not appropriate.
Virtue of the week
Respect
The Virtue of Respect Also known as: Reverence Definition of Respect:
Speaking and acting according to our own and others' rights, status, and circumstances
Prayer for Respect:
Dear Jesus, help me to show reverence to people who are in authority over me as I would to You. And help me give all persons the honor they deserve as Your unique creations.
Respect Looks Like:
- Only saying nice things about your siblings and classmates
- Not laughing at others
- Listening the first time and discontinuing an action when someone asks you to stop
- Kissing a crucifix
- Listening attentively to others
Respect Sounds Like:
- He is really good at...
- It is not nice to laugh at people.
- Silence I will stop doing that.
- Silence

Student/Parent Handbook Corner
PLAYGROUND EXPECTATIONS
Students are expected to exercise good sportsmanship and courtesy during recess and lunch play periods.
Yard duty personnel assist the faculty in supervising the play periods. Students are expected to treat these adults with courtesy, respect and obedience. Failure to comply with yard rules or lack of respect toward a yard supervisor may result in a disciplinary referral.
General Yard Rules
Students are required to eat lunch and remain in the designated area until the yard supervisor signals the beginning of the play period. No food may be taken to the playground at lunchtime or at recess time. The class must clean all lunch tables before leaving the lunch area.
Students are not allowed to run and/or play in the corridor area at any time. Students using The ARK must strictly adhere to the rules or lose the privilege of using this piece of equipment. One person is permitted on the ARK slides at a time. No pushing or shoving is permitted.
If a student is injured on the playground, yard duty supervisors will take care of the student and then write a report for the principal and the office. To facilitate any emergency that may arise, all teachers and yard duty supervisors are to carry walkie-talkies in order to be in communication with the school office.
Five minutes before the end of the lunch period, a warning bell will be rung for classroom line up.

Online Registration and Registration Fees for the 2025-2026 School Year for Returning Families
Current families will receive their 2025–2026 online registration link on February 5, aligning with the first child registration fee due date. For the first time in over a decade, we are updating the Registration Fee to include a $150 technology fee per student. This fee supports our technology infrastructure, including security, wiring, 1-to-1 device maintenance, web-based program subscriptions (Lexia, Nearpod, IXL, and Renaissance), and hardware updates.
The non-refundable registration fee for the first child is $600, due by February 7. For siblings, the non-refundable fee is $500 per student, due by May 9.
Registration fees also cover classroom and teacher instructional supplies, Powerschool, class parties, teacher appreciation (PTG), Auction projects, membership in the Dads Club, and contributions to our school-based Tuition Assistance Fund, which supports families in need each year.
Online registration secures your spot for next year and provides critical updates, including contact and health information, emergency contacts, tuition agreements, and permissions. Please review the tuition and parent agreement carefully, including details on the parent hours requirement and the 2025–2026 Registration Packet.
We will announce the updated tuition rates for the 2025–2026 school year on February 5. Each year, we carefully evaluate tuition to align with the Diocese of Oakland's faculty and staff salary scale, benefits, and anticipated cost adjustments for the upcoming year. To ensure we continue providing an excellent Catholic education and supporting our dedicated educators, tuition rates typically increase between 5 and 10 percent.
We deeply value your partnership and commitment to Assumption School. Your timely registration helps us plan for the upcoming school year, ensuring we can continue to provide a nurturing, faith-filled environment and a high-quality education for all our students. If you have any questions about the registration process or fees, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office. Thank you for being an essential part of our school community.
