Volume 6/Issue 20 Assumption Life Jan. 8, 2025
Our Mission
We are Assumption Catholic School, a ministry of the Church of the Assumption. As a diverse community, we excel in academics and model Christ where each individual is safe, nurtured, respected, and treasured.
Together we pray
God of hope and mercy, we lift up to you all victims of natural disasters and those responding with assistance and aid. Protect all who are in any form of danger; provide practical help to those in need; strengthen the weary, console the grieving, heal the suffering; and bless those engaged in disaster relief efforts with safety and courage. Help all people of good will respond with compassion and generous hearts.
Amen.
Please pray for the Sue family as Mr. Sue recovers from illness.
Almighty and Eternal God,
You are the everlasting health of those who believe in You. Hear us for Your sick servant Tony Sue for whom we implore the aid of Your tender mercy, that being restored to bodily health, he may give thanks to You in Your Church.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Together we can
Put Kids In The Same Boat
Instead of taking sides when children fight, treat them the same.
1) Give the same choice: "Kids, would you like to go to the peace table or the wheel of choice?"
2) Show Faith: "Let me know when you have identified the problem and have ideas for solutions.
3) Leave: Fighting will diminish significantly when you stop taking sides-so long as you are having regular family meetings to teach problem-solving skills.
Virtue of the week
The Virtue of Affability
Also known as: Likable
Definition of Affability
Being easy to approach and easy to talk to - friendly
Prayer for Affability:
Jesus, King of my heart, You were kind to the little children who came to You. Be my strength as I try to be good to all those I meet today.
Affability Looks Like:
Affability Sounds Like:
Prayer for Affability:Lord Jesus, help me to be affable today. May my smile, greetings, and conversation help all those around me feel welcome and loved with the same love You have for them. Amen.

Dear Friends and Family of Assumption School,
2025 is here! I hope your break with family and friends was restful and joyful and you stayed healthy! On behalf of our entire faculty and staff community, please accept our gratitude for your generosity in the holiday gifts, treats, and well wishes that were given to teachers, office staff, instructional assistants, support staff, and administration. We are all so thankful and appreciative of your thoughtfulness. It made the holidays just that much more sweet, caffeinated, and rested.
We celebrated the Feast of the Epiphany on Monday as a Catholic community but I will be taking this to the classrooms on Friday with a special blessing often done in the home. On Friday, we will welcome the arrival of the three Magi or wise men that visited the Holy Family in Bethlehem after Jesus' birth. This quick visit and blessing will give me a chance to say hello to all the classes.
The month of January is an important month for prospective and current families that would like to enroll NEW students for the 2025-2026 school year. We are very excited that we have a great interest in our programs. We are grateful for your continued positive word of mouth to neighbors, families, and friends. We are especially looking prospective students in our TK, 3rd, 5th, and 8th grades. We have limited space our Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades and likely a waiting list in our 4th, 6th and 7th grades. Are you a current family with school-aged children? Siblings are on our priority list but be sure to apply now as it is for space available and not guaranteed.
Feel free to send our online application to your families, friends, and even former daycare communities. You can also invite them to come with you to our annual Open House on January 26. Open House is a great opportunity for current families and new families to see classroom displays, talk with teachers, or talk with each other about the great learning taking place at Assumption School.
Thank you for all you do! Together we can do great things!
Sincerely,
Lana Rocheford
Principal
Tardiness - Thank you for your efforts
Thank you to parents who have made a huge effort to assure their students are on time to school! We have seen a significant decrease in school tardies! Keep up the good work.
Those with tardies exceeding more than 4 since December 6 will be receiving Tardy Resolution Checklist on Friday, January 10.
In it, parents are asked to identify the consequence for the excessive tardy and return the Checklist by Monday, January 13.
- Students serving a detention will do so on January 14 from 3:15 - 3:45 p.m.
- Parents completing a service hour will need to contact CYO to sign up for a specific Gym Monitor hour.
Thank you for helping to support student learning!
