Volume 6/Issue 17 Assumption Life Dec. 4, 2024
Our Mission
We are Assumption Catholic School, a ministry of the Church of the Assumption. As a diverse community, we excel in academics and model Christ where each individual is safe, nurtured, respected, and treasured.
Together we pray
Loving God, As we begin this season of Advent, we light the candle of hope. It reminds us of Your promise to send a Savior and calls us to trust in Your faithful love.
Fill our hearts with hope as we prepare for the joy of Christ’s coming. Help us to bring hope to those around us through acts of kindness, words of encouragement, and hearts full of faith.
May this Advent journey draw us closer to You and to one another as we wait in hope and trust.
Amen.
Eternal Rest, grant unto Bishop Cummins, O Lord. May he rest in peace. Amen.
Together we can
Positive Time-Out
People do better when they feel better. Positive time-out helps us cool off and feel better.
1) Create a time-out space with your children. Let them decide what it would look like and what is in it.
2) Let them give it a special name.
3) When they are upset ask, "Would it help to go to your place?"
4) Model using positive time-out by going to your own special place when you are upset.
Virtue of the week
Hope
Meaning: Enables one to desire God above all things and to trust him for personal salvation.
Gift of Fear of the Lord - Aids us in avoiding sin, protecting our relationship with God.

Dear Friends and Families of Assumption School,
Tonight, our 7th and 8th graders will present their projects at the Annual Sue Prince Science Fair. We’re grateful to Ms. Campbell, her team of judges, and our junior high parents for nurturing a passion for science. The Science Fair is open to all families in the gym at 7:15 p.m.—come be inspired by our students’ creativity!
Today, report cards for Kindergarten through 8th grade were distributed, along with November STAR reports in Reading and Math. Please take a moment to review these with your child.
We’re proud to celebrate students with zero tardies this trimester, who’ve earned a Free Dress Day this Thursday. Their achievement is noted on their report cards—congratulations to these punctual role models! Additionally, we’ll honor Junior High students with a 95% or higher average in all subjects during next Thursday’s morning assembly (December 12th). Families are invited to join us in celebrating their outstanding academic dedication.
For students needing extra support, we’ve introduced plans to address tardiness and academic challenges. Families of students with over four tardies or academic probation will find attached letters with their report cards outlining next steps. Together, we can ensure every student succeeds at Assumption.
This week, we light the first candle of Advent, symbolizing HOPE. As we prepare our hearts for PEACE next week, I invite you to our Annual Christmas Concert next Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Church of Assumption. Led by Mr. Vaughan, our students will give the gift of song to our community—please join us in celebrating this joyful season!
In Hope, Lana Rocheford Principal

Addressing the Issue of Tardies
In the first trimester, a large number of students reached the threshold of allowable non-medical tardies of 4 and in some cases exceeded these tardies significantly. We want to work in partnership to decrease the non-medical tardies and ask that families partner with the school to instill punctuality and support learning in the classroom.
