Volume 6/Issue 14 Assumption Life Nov. 6, 2024
Our Mission
We are Assumption Catholic School, a ministry of the Church of the Assumption. As a diverse community, we excel in academics and model Christ where each individual is safe, nurtured, respected, and treasured.
Together we pray
Prayer for Our Nation
Lord,
We pray for our nation that all that divide us might be pushed aside so we can remember all that unites us. Grant us the ability to listen to one another with compassion and empathy. Let sensibility and genuine love rise in our hearts. Help us remember that we are one people, united by our diversity, and that loving our country means loving our neighbors as ourselves.
We ask this in Jesus' name,
Amen.
A Special Prayer for Estela Castillo
We pray for the soul of Estela Castillo, mother-in-law of Diana Castillo, who passed away on October 21st.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon her.
May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
We also lift Diana and her family in prayer, asking for God’s comfort and peace during this time.
Together we can
Natural Consequences
Children develop resiliency and capability by experiencing the natural consequences of their choices.
1) Avoid lectures or, "I told you so."
2) Show empathy: "You're soaking wet, that must be uncomfortable."
3) Be comforting without rescuing: "A warm shower might help.
4) Validate feelings: "Sounds like that was very embarrassing.”
Virtue of the week
Loyalty
Meaning: Accepting the bonds implicit in relationships and defending the virtues upheld by Church, family, and country.
Opposing trait:
Breaking bonds of trust with Church, family, country, friends, and school.
Ways to cultivate: Seek to do one’s best to help others; follow rules; fulfill responsibilities;
be faithful to commitments.
