Intent to Return for the 2024-2025 School Year
We hope to have a strong return of our current families for the 2024-2025 school year!
We have a lot of interest in our school and use this form to know what spaces we have in all of our grades for the 2024-2025 school year. Next year, we look forward to playing on our new play structure, continuing our academic excellence, having updated technology, and continuing a program where students, families, faculty and staff thrive.
ALL CURRENT FAMILIES: Please complete the following Intent to Return Form by February 28, 2024. This form will take only about three minutes to complete and provide KEY information including Tuition Rates for the 2024-2025 school year. Thank you!
Our Mission
We are Assumption Catholic School, a ministry of the Church of the Assumption. As a diverse community, we excel in academics and model Christ where each individual is safe, nurtured, respected, and treasured.
Together we pray
Prayer for Ash Wednesday
Merciful God, you called us forth from the dust of the earth; you claimed us for Christ in the waters of baptism. Look upon us as we enter these Forty Days bearing the mark of ashes, and bless the journey through the desert of Lent to the font of rebirth. As we remember our mortality and seek penitence today, we know you to be a God who is rich in forgiveness and abounding in steadfast love, love that culminates in eternal life with you. Guide our steps this Lent, so that we might find greater fulfillment in your promises and better serve others with a heart that’s reflective of you. Amen.
Special prayers for Mrs. Munoz as she supports her mom, Betty Tully, through illness. We love you Mrs. Munoz!
Together we can
Anger Wheel of Choice
1) Teach your children that feelings are always okay, but what they do is not always okay.
2) During a time when your child is feeling calm, show him or her the Anger Wheel of Choice and go over the respectful alternatives for expressing anger.
3) When your child is angry, validate his or her feelings and then ask if he or she would like to choose something from the Wheel of Choice.

Dear Families and Friends of Assumption School,
I am very excited about our PTG Parent Education Night TOMORROW. At the start of February, Bishop O'Dowd High School invited us to screen #KidsonTech, a film about the impact of technology on our children with their parent community. We are grateful for the invite and proudly had a nice group of parents attend. It was such a great screening, we have asked Mike Aquino, Assistant Principal and Assumption parent, if we could offer this very important film as our February PTG Parent Education Night which is TOMORROW night at 7 p.m. in the Small Hall with a discussion afterward. Refreshments will be served and childcare is available from 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. Plus you get a parent hour!
We hope you can make it. This will not be offered via Zoom and when you watch the film you will find out why! And, we are welcoming Junior High students to attend the screening with their parents to help add to the conversation. See you THURSDAY at 7 p.m.
Thank you to all the parents who supported our CYO athletes during the Fall season. CYO Cheer, boys basketball, girls volleyball, and cross country were highlights in sportsmanship, teamwork, and active play. We are proud of our junior high volleyball girls teams who have made it to the playoffs this weekend for the Diocese. Keep an eye out for more information in our Room Parent emails for more information to cheer on our athletes. Spring sports including Girls Basketball, Sand Volleyball, and Cross Country are beginning their seasons now.
Last weekend, we honored our 7th and 8th grade scientists at the Diocesan Science Faire at St. Joseph Notre Dame High School. Next week, we will have more information about this great event! We proudly had students who received first, second, and third place awards in their categories! More to come.
This Saturday, our second grade students who are preparing for their sacraments will be receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time at the Church of Assumption. They have been learning in their class as well as during sacraments classes on Sundays the importance of these rites to our faith. We are so proud of them!
TOMORROW is our deadline to purchase tickets for HAVANA NIGHTS! Ohhh boy, get those comfortable linen slacks, bolero and sun hats, and wear those sunglasses at night to a cool and fun AUCTION NIGHT! There are so many awesome Auction items to bid as well as raffle items! We are hoping all families sell 2 books of raffle tickets sent home last week! This is one of our key fundraisers to get us to the $250,000 mark for our yearly fundraising. We are hoping to raise $100,000 for our school that will not just go to our operating account but also to our Fund A Need -- this year we are looking to raise funds to purchase new heating, AC, and air filtration units for the classrooms. It will be awesome! Buy tickets here.
Finally, please take a look at the letter from Diocese of Oakland Department of Catholic Schools Superintendent Dr. Andrew Currier who highlights the increase in salaries and wages for teachers and staff in all Catholic Schools. This increase including a 14 percent benefit increase will impact our school's tuition. In the Intent to Return link in this newsletter, the registration and tuition fees are listed. Please review and complete this form before February 28, 2024.
Thank you again for all your support!
In God's Love,
Lana Rocheford
Principal

Hey, congrats! You got to the end. Way to go! Fun fact: The last time Ash Wednesday occurred on Valentine’s Day was in 2018. Last century, the two holidays fell on the same day in 1923, 1934 and 1945. For this century, it's happening today, then again in 2029 and that will be it.
