Assumption Life: Volume 5/Issue 15 November 8, 2023
Our Mission
We are Assumption Catholic School, a ministry of the Church of the Assumption. As a diverse community, we excel in academics and model Christ where each individual is safe, nurtured, respected, and treasured.
Together we pray
A Veterans Day Prayer
Dear Lord,
We know that freedom isn’t free and a special few pay the price for many.
We owe a debt of gratitude to all the courageous men and women who have served and sacrificed to protest us and our freedoms.
Today, as we remember our veterans, we ask you to bless each one and meet their every need.
We pray they will know how valued, respected and appreciated they are.
Please bless their families for their many sacrifices as well.
We ask for your protection over all who are serving now and ask you to bring them home safely.
We also ask you to comfort all who are missing someone who served.
In Jesus’ name we ask these things.
Amen.
Please pray for these friends of Assumption School:
Betty Tully
Janica Paustian
George Brandt
Danny O’Neill
Lonnie Ilmberger
And for Edna DiRe Gilbert, the Aunt of Ms. Schnabel, who passed away this week:
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.
Together we can
Silent Signals
Parents often talk too much. A silent signal could speak louder than words.
1) Smile and point to the shoes that need to be picked up.
2) Decide with your child on signals that would work better than words during a conflict or as a reminder of manners.
3) When you feel upset, try putting your hand on your heart to signal,
"I love you." You'll both feel better.

Dear Friends and Families of Assumption School,
Fun Run is COMING! Students are warming up, stretching, and getting ready for that finish line! Next Wednesday, during the school day, students will be in three different heats during the day and cheered on by parents, each other, teachers and our 8th grade coaches! This is one of my favorite days of the year. And we are getting close to our fundraising goal of $65,000 for this event! Please send out your fundraising pages and help us reach our goal!
As we approach Veterans Day, we are reminded of the bravery and sacrifice of the men and women who have served and continue to serve our great nation. It is a day to honor and express our gratitude to those who have dedicated their lives to protecting our freedom and preserving the values we hold dear.
On Veterans Day, we encourage all families to take a moment to thank a veteran and reflect on the profound impact their service has on our lives. It's an opportunity for our children to learn the values of respect, gratitude, and patriotism.
As we honor our veterans, let us also remember that service to others and the community is a cornerstone of our Catholic education. We thank all those who have served and their families for their sacrifices and contributions to our country. May God bless them and our great nation.
Today, Wednesday, we celebrated having the Bishop O'Dowd Traveling Jazz Band perform at Assumption School for our Kindergarten through 8th grade. Under the direction of Mr. Randolph, these high school students played trumpets, saxophones, bass guitar, drums, piano to snapping fingers and clapping hands of our students. It was so much fun to listen at the end of the day to some great music! Thank you, Bishop O'Dowd for the opportunity.
As you may have already seen in an earlier Assumption Life Special Edition, Mr. Fargo, a 4th grader, made my job just a little easier by visiting classrooms, wearing the principal vest, and doing a few recess duties as Principal for a Day. He made a special announcement today and we are excited about tomorrow's free dress.
On Tuesday, we presented Denis Ducey a check for more than $2,600 to the American Cancer Society and Breast Cancer Awareness in honor of his wife, Marnelle Veira Ducey. Thank you to all who participated.
This Thursday marks the end of the First Trimester! We are so excited to celebrate all our scholars for their hard work and commitment to their learning. It has not been an easy road ... some students are still adjusting to the expectations and standards of excellence. But this is not a road travelled alone. With teacher feedback and support inside the classroom and parent support at home, we believe students can continue on a pattern of growth in learning and reach student goals by the end of the year.
Have a great week!
Lana Rocheford
Principal

Hey, congrats! You got to the end. Way to go! Fun fact: The army is older than the country itself. George Washington led the first continental army in June of 1775. This means that our army predates our country by more than one year.
