Volume 4/Issue 41 Assumption Life May 24, 2023
Our Mission
We are Assumption Catholic School, a ministry of the Church of the Assumption. As a diverse community, we excel in academics and model Christ where each individual is safe, nurtured, respected, and treasured.
Together we pray
Pray for Renewal and Fresh Beginnings
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” (Isaiah 43:18-19)
Father, thank you for a fresh start today. Thank you for the reminder of “renewal” that spring represents to us in the earth. You “spring forth” a new thing! I am excited and expectant of your goodness in this spring season.
Thank you, Father! Prepare me for all the new and wonderful things you have for my life. Help me to let go of the old things that hold me back, the things that do not bring me life, the things that keep me living in the past. I will cling to my new identity in Christ!
Help me to keep “springing forward” in my journey with you!
Amen
Special intentions for the Lobo and Falleiro families as they grieve the loss of Mrs. Lobo’s father:
Bless those who mourn, eternal God, with the comfort of your love that they may face each new day with hope and the certainty that nothing can destroy the good that has been given. May their memories become joyful, their days enriched with friendship, and their lives encircled by your love.
Together we can
Letting Go
Letting go does not mean abandoning your child. It means allowing your child to learn responsibility and to feel capable.
1) Take small steps in letting go.
2) Take time for training and then step back.
3) Have faith in your child to learn from his or her mistakes.
4) Get a life so your identity doesn't depend on managing your child's life.

Dear Families and Friends,
We are in the final weeks of school! Our Class of 2023 have finished almost all their Rite of Passage Exit interviews (ROPES) in front of their class, parents, and teachers over the last two weeks. As principal, I watched each presentation and celebrated with families and students their successes over all these years. A few highlights that truly brought such joy in this principal's heart:
- Each 8th grader mentioned gratitude for their parents providing them the foundation to be who they are today.
- School was about memories of learning like the class projects (Debates, Ted Talks, the American Revolution Faire and Heritage Dolls made impacts)
- COVID 19 brought lessons of sacrifice for the greater good and not taking face-to-face interactions for granted. Our students also connected being socially responsible citizens by keeping people safe through mask wearing, hand washing, and quarantining at home.
- Faith in service was huge -- service learning was at the forefront of being an active Christian.
- Field trips were definitely fun for our students including Caritas Creek, Levi Stadium, the Exploratorium, Christ the Light Cathedral, and the state capitol.
- Life lessons were shared like the pitfalls of procrastination and benefits of time management as well as studying hard leading to the Principal's List and asking for teacher help reaped connection and rewards.
All our graduates plan on not just attending high school but joining clubs and sports teams as well as serving the community and meeting new people. The future is in great hands and our graduates are well prepared!
We celebrate the Class of 2023 at their graduation next week:

Hey, congrats! You got to the end. Way to go! Fun fact: On this day, in 1844, in a demonstration witnessed by members of Congress, American inventor Samuel F.B. Morse dispatched the first telegraph message, “What hath God wrought?”, from the U.S. Capitol to Alfred Vail at a railroad station in Baltimore, Maryland.
