Volume 4/Issue 18 Assumption Life
December 7, 2022
Our Mission
We are Assumption Catholic School, a ministry of the Church of the Assumption. As a diverse community, we excel in academics and model Christ where each individual is safe, nurtured, respected, and treasured.
Together we pray
The Second Week of Advent: Love
Jesus said to the crowds:
“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am meek and humble of heart;
and you will find rest for yourselves.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”
– Mt 11:28-30
The burden of illness, financial hardship, grief, guilt, hopelessness, helplessness, and many other things that weigh down our souls and lives. Jesus, in today’s gospel is telling us, COURAGE! I am here to lift your burden and tend to your weary hearts. Jesus is our companion on the journey, and has also provided us with trustworthy, reliable, and dependable friends.
Jesus, you know that we need support to be able to navigate the upheavals of life. Thank you for your unconditional love, for lifting our burdens and giving rest to our souls. Amen.
– Waiting for Joyful Hope
Please pray for the following families: Ancelet Family, Richards Family, Christopher Family, Brehm Family, Tang Family, and all those who are recovering from sickness or injury.
Together we can
Ask for Help
Telling children they are capable is not effective. They must have experiences where they FEEL capable.
- Children feel capable, belonging, and significance when they contribute.
- Look for every opportunity to say, “I need your help.”
- Be sure to let your children know how much you appreciate their help.

SCHOOL SUNDAY MASS THIS SUNDAY:
If you attend any of our calendared Sunday school-sponsored Masses including SUNDAY (12/11/22) at 10 a.m. hosted by 4th Grade. If your students wear their school uniform, you can earn a parent hour and your student earns a free dress. All are welcome.
How does it work:
- Plan to attend the 10 a.m. Mass in-person with your student in FULL UNIFORM.
- At the end of the Mass, look for a staff person (or Mrs. Rocheford) who will have Free Dress Passes to give to students.
- Place your LAST NAME and Grade(s) on the Free Dress Pass.
- The student turns in the free dress pass on the ASSIGNED SCHOOL MASS FREE DRESS DAY on the PASS to your students' teacher to count you as a family who participated. (only one hour per family not per student).
Small print: Only in-person school- or class-sponsored Assumption Parish Sunday Masses count toward service hours. Those masses are on our school calendar and are usually twice a month.

Altar Server Training Needs Parent Support
PARENT HOURS ALERT: We need two - three parents to sign up to help supervise the altar server training for each day. Vaccination, LiveScan, and Virtus training requirements apply.
Parent volunteers will have a list of students who will gather at the flagpole, pass out name tags to students, and be walked over to the church (one parent in the front and one in the back). Then during the training, the volunteers will help supervise and redirect students as needed as a support to our parish volunteers who are in charge of the training. After the training, the volunteers will wait for pick up in front of the church and at 4:05 p.m. walk students to Extended Care for sign-in.
Sign Up Here.
