Our Junior Kindergarten class went on a special field trip to the school library with Ms. Contreras this week to learn about the beautiful traditions of Dia de los Muertos.
The students gathered around to listen to stories explaining how the holiday honors and remembers loved ones. Afterward, the class visited a colorful ofrenda (altar) set up in the library. They observed the bright marigolds, traditional decorations, and meaningful photos on display, learning how each item serves as a welcoming tribute.
The highlight of the visit was a delicious culinary surprise. Ms. Contreras brought in fresh Pan de Muerto (Bread of the Dead) for the entire class to taste. The children loved trying the sweet, traditional bread, making for a truly memorable, hands-on cultural experience. Thank you to Ms. Contreras and our library staff for creating such a wonderful learning opportunity for our youngest students! More classes will tour the ofrenda later this week!
