Today marked an exciting step forward for our academic community as Assumption School officially launched two dynamic programs: our advanced Zero Period Independent Study Geometry class and the much-anticipated Junior High Collaboration Wheel for grades 6–8. From high-level mathematics to creative, hands-on electives, our campus is buzzing with fresh energy, critical thinking, and exploration.
Zero Period Independent Study Geometry
This morning, our advanced mathematicians rose early to take on a brand-new academic challenge. The Zero Period Independent Study Geometry class is designed specifically for students in 8th grade who qualified for the challenge. This rigorous program gives these bright minds the opportunity to stretch their capabilities and take on an extra high-school-level course load. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and work ethic as they push their boundaries first thing in the morning!

Students step into a complete newsroom crew environment to bring Good Day Assumption to life. Using stories built from the student experience, this performing arts class focuses on performance and studio production. Roles include On-Camera Anchors, Student Directors leading the floor, Tech Crew managing cameras and audio, and Media Producers building visual graphics. - Basketball Skills & Fundamentals (Instructor: Mr. Shim)
This is a highly structured, high-intensity development class designed to elevate court intelligence. Moving far beyond an "open gym," sessions center around advanced footwork, situational drilling, pick-and-roll reads, fast-paced small-sided games, and building a coachable, disciplined competitive mindset. - Mindful Movement & Reset (Instructor: Mrs. Bass)
A low-pressure, high-reward space designed to help busy students hit pause, unwind, and manage academic stress. Students practice breathing techniques, gentle stretching, guided mobility, and dedicated restorative quiet time to recover their focus and physical well-being. - Yearbook Digital Photography (Instructor: Mr. DelCastillo | 8th Grade Only)
An exclusive workshop for our 8th-grade yearbook staff to master digital SLR (DSLR) cameras. Students learn manual operation (aperture, shutter speed, ISO), photojournalism ethics, image archiving, and campus fieldwork assignments to capture official imagery for this year's publication. - Board Game Club (Instructor: Mrs. Gomez)
Students step into tabletop gaming to build logic, strategy, and teamwork. By playing a mix of cooperative and competitive games, participants practice planning several moves ahead, managing game mechanics, and modeling excellent sportsmanship. - Volleyball Skills Workshop (Instructor: Mr. Poon)
Focused instruction to help students master core fundamentals, including bumping, setting, serving, and attacking. The course emphasizes precise court movement, defensive positioning, and executing team offensive strategies during live-game scrimmages. - Cooking (Instructor: Mrs. Contreras)
A delicious, hands-on introduction to kitchen safety, precise recipe scaling, and culinary teamwork. Working in small groups, students learn basic baking science and preparation tricks while whipping up snacks and desserts. - Creative Craft Studio (Instructor: Ms. Romo)
A dynamic, tactile art experience where students explore personal style through unique 3D textures. Projects include sculpting custom clay items, molding paper-mâché mini piñatas, and hand-crafting custom paper from raw pulp. - Homework Hangout: Study Skills & Support (Instructor: Ms. Mendoza | Location: Library)
A supportive environment focused on tracking assignments, conquering to-do lists, and eliminating school stress. Students learn customized study techniques, time management, and self-advocacy using flexible, focus-friendly tools. - Natural Wonders (Instructor: Mrs. Wolf)
Students act as field naturalists right on our own campus grounds. Activities include conducting ecological surveys of local insects, gardening, exploring ecosystem connections, and directly caring for the school’s chickens and rabbits.
