We know how busy life gets when the school bells stop ringing, but we also know how vital it is to keep our students' imaginations growing over the break. Reading is such a lovely way to keep those minds active while avoiding the "summer slide."
Following up on Ms. Blum’s fantastic 4th-grade recommendations, we are back with the second installment of our summer reading recommendations! This week, I reached out to Ms. Bass—our 8th-grade homeroom, JH math, and 6th-grade literature teacher—to see what she is recommending for our "Summer Life" newsletter. She shared a real gem that rising junior high students, or anyone who loves great history facts, will absolutely love. I hope you and your children enjoy these stories!
The History Smashers Series by Kate Messner
This is such an engaging read! With 12 books exploring different parts of American history, it is a fantastic choice for rising 8th graders looking for an exciting option for their Social Studies summer reading.
I hope you and your family find some quiet, cozy moments to curl up with these books this summer. Happy reading, and stay tuned for more teacher favorites coming soon!
