Summer Reading Favorites: A Note from Ms. Alicia Blum, 4th Grade Teacher

We know how busy life gets when the school bells stop ringing, but we also know how vital it is to keep our students' imaginations growing over the break. Reading together is such a lovely way to keep those minds active while avoiding the "summer slide."

I reached out to Ms. Blum, our 4th-grade teacher, to see if she had any recommendations for our "Summer Life" newsletter, and she shared two real gems that students in 3rd through 5th grades would probably love. I hope you and your children enjoy these stories as much as they do!

The Chocolate Touch by Patrick Skene Cattling

This is such an entertaining read! It’s a wonderful choice for expanding vocabulary, and it is filled with valuable lessons and morals that make for such great family conversations.

The Lemonade Wars by Jacqueline Davies

If your child loves a little mystery and suspense, this is the book for them. It’s a fantastic, fun-filled adventure that subtly incorporates math and business concepts—plus a little dash of wizardry to keep things interesting!

I hope you and your family find some quiet, cozy moments to curl up with these books this summer. Happy reading!
