The Assumption 6th-grade boys basketball team won the SAC league championship in CYO this year. They had a perfect 12-0 season, ending with a strong win against Our Lady of Grace; they won 41-16. Then they played St. John's, and it was a hard game. They were both great teams. Assumption lost that game, ending their season.
Last year, the team had a devastating loss against St. Leander's. This year they had a comeback. Not only did they beat St. Leander's, but they were able to win the SAC league championship trophy. The team fought hard against all the teams they played against. Their playoff game didn’t go as well as their season, but they played as hard as they could.
Two players were interviewed on their perspectives on the season.
The first player, Joel P., said, “Our season was fun and very hard, and you had to try your hardest to win. In our last game, the team we played had very good defense and the game was very hard.”
The second player, Carmelo C., states, “Our season was too easy and we needed better competition.”
The team had a great season, even though they lost in the playoffs. They worked hard throughout the whole season.
