Each class during the Assumption School year creates multiple school projects through the curriculum. In the second grade class, their favorite project though the year was created on February 25, 2026, and built in their homes in order to bring it to school to show and learn about their classmates' projects. They created an arctic diorama including different materials and parts, when doing this project it created a hands-on activity where they used their own imagination in order to create something that is their own.
When picking a favorite project, second grade students agreed that the arctic diorama was fun and interactive. Each student made a model of arctic animals and environment but all of them were different and had new ideas. Some had snow, others had animals, but each one had a different aspect that made their project unique.
Ava H. said about her project “I got to put my snowy animal in my diorama.” After asking why she liked the project most. Which shows how much freedom was included in their decisions. “We also got to show our project to other people and tell them about it.”
Another student had a new reason why he liked the amount of creativity “I got to spay paint my project,” Miles. R said, showing how many different ways that the project could be based. Each class has had many projects and for second grade they chose the Arctic Diorama based on the amount of fun and creativity.
🗞️ Introducing the Assumption Student News Lab!
Over the past few weeks, our creative and curious junior high students stepped behind the camera, the microphone, and the notepad as campus reporters in the Assumption Student News Lab.
Rather than sitting through traditional lectures, these young journalists managed their own newsroom and mastered a professional production pipeline:
-
The Journalistic Lens: Learning to spot timely, impactful school stories.
-
Professional Interviewing: Crafting open-ended questions and conducting respectful campus interviews.
-
The Inverted Pyramid: Structuring news articles with engaging headlines and factual openings.
-
Ethics & Integrity: Rigorously editing their work for accuracy and fairness.
Over the next few weeks, we are incredibly proud to feature their finalized news articles right here in Assumption Life. Get ready for a student-led look at our vibrant campus life—from sports highlights and teacher spotlights to behind-the-scenes glimpses of school traditions!
