Celebrating Arab American Heritage Month
What is Arab American Heritage Month?
National Arab American Heritage Month is observed every April to honor the history, culture, and achievements of Americans with roots in the 22 Arab-speaking nations. It began as a grassroots initiative in 2017 and gained official federal recognition from the wh›ite house in 2021. The month serves to celebrate the diverse contributions of the community while promoting a deeper understanding of Arab American identity through events and education.
Why It Matters to Our Community
This month we celebrate Arab American History Month and this matters to our community because many people from our community identify with that nationality. Celebrating this month helps us remember the beauty and uniqueness of Arab culture.
How Assumption School is celebrating Arab American History Month:
- SLT will announce what Arab American History Month is!
- SLT will highlight and share stories of famous and/or influential figures who have shaped Arab history and culture, for example, Steve Jobs and Rami Malik!
