Because 4th grade was working so hard last month, we wanted to take a moment to look back at everything we accomplished in November!
Writing We focused heavily on adding details to our work. We practiced procedural writing by describing exactly how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. We also worked on creative writing by drafting "Dear Duncan" letters with a unique twist, inspired by the book The Day the Crayons Quit.
Social Studies We spent the month learning about the Indigenous people of California. A highlight was a wonderful presentation from Monty, who taught us all about the tools, food, and materials that tribal members use to live and survive.
Science Science class has been super fun. We start every class with bellwork, but the highlight is "Droodle Day" on Thursdays. This is a drawing game where classmates get to vote on which scientific drawing is the coolest!
Spanish We dove into a new packet to help us learn numbers and colors. We are also practicing doing the daily calendar in Spanish.
Art We explored different media like pastels, paint, coloring, and sketching. We learned that art is a great way to relax and that nothing has to be perfect. It can be funky, silly, weird, or bad—as long as we are creating!
