Join us via Zoom on Wednesday, November 12 at 6:30 p.m. for the first Community Meeting of the I-580 Truck Access Study. This meeting is your opportunity to learn more about the study, ask questions, and share your experiences traveling on and living near the I-580 and I-880 corridors.
Since 1951, large trucks have been prohibited on part of I-580 from Foothill Boulevard in San Leandro to Grand Avenue in Oakland. As a result, truck traffic has been routed to I-880, contributing to health and environmental impacts in nearby neighborhoods, particularly in West Oakland. The I-580 Truck Access
Study will analyze the potential impacts of removing this ban, including truck volumes, air quality, noise impacts, and equity considerations. Caltrans will work to gather input from community members throughout this important process. Your input is critical to ensuring that community voices and lived experiences help shape the study's goals and outcomes. Please join us to learn more and share your thoughts.
