Assumption School joins the Great Shakeout with Earthquake Drill 10/16/2025

On Thursday, October 16, 2025, Assumption School will proudly take part in the International Great ShakeOut earthquake drill, joining millions around the globe in a coordinated “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” exercise.

As part of the school’s ongoing commitment to safety and preparedness, students and staff will pause their routines to practice what to do in a quake: dropping to the ground, taking cover under a sturdy object, and holding on until the shaking stops. This drill will align with the recommendations for schools participating in ShakeOut, which emphasize integrating earthquake safety into broader emergency plans.

Assumption School will continue its practice of holding monthly drills for various emergencies, ensuring that students and personnel gain experience responding to different scenarios. In addition, all staff members are trained in First Aid and CPR upon hire and will participate in ongoing on-site emergency response training throughout the year.

Each year, Assumption School participates in the ShakeOut event to emphasize the importance of earthquake readiness, strengthen safety protocols, and connect with the larger movement promoting disaster preparedness in schools worldwide.
