A huge thank you to Liz DiGiacomo and the incredible Cherry Festival float team! Your time, talent, and dedication brought this year’s float to life in the most joyful and creative way. From the planning and painting to the music and smiles, every detail reflected the heart of our Assumption community.
Thank you also to our amazing CYO Cheer Team, the athletes, coaches, parents, teachers & staff, and most of all our students who showed up to represent Assumption School with pride. We’re so proud to have been part of this beloved San Leandro tradition, and it wouldn’t have been possible without your energy, dedication, and team spirit.

A letter to our Assumption Community from Principal Rocheford:
Dear Assumption Families, Alumni, and Friends,
What a weekend! We are overflowing with gratitude for the incredible teamwork, dedication, and love poured into our Cherry Festival float and booth. Because of your time, talents, and spirit, Assumption School, Parish, and CYO were honored with the 2025 Best Float Award—a recognition that celebrates creativity, craftsmanship, and community impact.
This year’s Cherry Festival Parade was more than a celebration—it was the realization of a vision set by our School Board in 2017 and expanded by our current School Board: to amplify Assumption’s presence in the San Leandro community by showcasing what we stand for—service, community, and excellence. We went in “extra,” and it showed. From the meticulous float design to the smiling faces of so MANY of us during the parade and the loving representation at our Cherry Festival Booth, every detail reflected the heart of who we are.
We’re also thrilled to share that our booth generated new interest in our school, with several families reaching out for tours and even submitting applications. Your hard work planted seeds that will bless our school community for years to come.
While the vision may have started with a few including Liz DiGiacomo and Nicole Rossini, it came to life thanks to many—the parent volunteers who decorated late into the evening, the alumni who returned to support us, the worker bees who buzzed through every task, and the cheerleaders on the sidelines who kept us going. Your example shows our students that everything worth doing is worth doing well.
Thank you for helping us create lasting memories, build community, and model excellence. This is what happens when Assumption shows up—and we show up BIG.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Lana Rocheford
