Assumption School welcomes Mrs. Keeler

Hi Assumption School Families,

I’d like to introduce myself as the science and art teacher for TK - 3rd grade. As an alum and former employee of Assumption, I am very excited to return this 2024 - 2025 school year.

My husband and I are proud parents to a 14-month-old named Declan (and also to Stella, our dog, and Lucy, our cat). Some of my favorite things to do are taking Declan to the park and on mini-adventures, reading, walking Stella, and spending quality time with family and friends.

I grew up in San Leandro but now live on the peninsula. I am the youngest of five

children and come from a family of teachers. My mom, Lenore Walsh, is a former teacher at Assumption. Growing up working in her classroom helped fuel my passion for teaching.

In 2011 I graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a

minor in education. Later I obtained my teaching credential and master’s degree from

the University of San Francisco.

I taught both second and third grade at St. Clement School and St. Dunstan School. I also worked at Our Lady of Grace and Assumption as a teacher’s aide, office administrator, and extended care aide. My volunteer experience includes working as a camp counselor for kids coping with cancer and for kids who’ve been adopted from the foster care system. For the past year, I stayed home with Declan. Now I am excited to return to the classroom as a speciality teacher.

Science and art are subjects that spark students’ curiosity and imagination. I can’t wait to be a part of making learning fun!

Warmest regards,

Mrs. Maureen Keeler
