Light Up SL Contest - VOTE FOR ASSUMPTION TODAY!

Last Sunday, the Assumption community gathered for our Seventh Annual Christmas Tree Blessing & Lighting and Christmas Caroling, filling our parish grounds with joy, song, and the spirit of Advent.

Antonio & Joe, with St. Joseph the Worker Ministry, transformed our campus with beautiful lights. Parish staff hosted a festive reception with hot chocolate, hot cider, and cookies,

Special thanks to Nicole, who led the Charlie Brown–themed school gate decorations, bringing to life a beloved reminder of Christmas:
“I guess you were right, Linus. I shouldn’t have picked this little tree… Isn’t there anyone who knows what Christmas is all about?”

Linus replies, quoting Scripture:
“And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field… For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord… Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”
Linus then turns to Charlie Brown and says:
“That’s what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.”

This timeless message reminded everyone that Christmas is about the birth of Christ, hope, and joy shared with our community, not just decorations or gifts.

Mo & Orchard Supply Hardware generously donated our beautiful Christmas tree, making our display even more special.

Our School & Faith Formation Students and Teachers added their handmade ornaments, filling the tree with color, creativity, and heart.

Bill Vaughan led joyful carols, and Father John blessed our tree, guiding us through the light and love of Advent.

The night was magical, and the Assumption community continues to shine brightly—lighting up San Leandro with our hearts, generosity, and festive spirit.
