Arrival and Departure at Assumption School

Assumption School prides itself on keeping members of our community safe but needs your partnership to do so.

Arrival for school begins at 7:45 a.m. The parking lot gate on Fulton opens at 7:40 a.m. to help traffic in the neighborhood, but supervision begins at 7:45 a.m. All students dropped off before before 7:40 a.m. will be brought to Extended Care. Please note if you are dropping off your student ANYTIME before 7:40 a.m. you will be charged Extended Care fees billed by the ½ hour.

Dismissal for school begins at 2:55 p.m. and ends at 3:15 p.m. The parking lot gate on Fulton opens at 2:45 p.m. to help with traffic in the neighborhood but students are not dismissed until 2:55 p.m. All students left at the 3:15 p.m. dismissal bell will be brought to Extended Care. No students can be on campus at 3:15 p.m. without direct supervision of an adult.

PEDESTRIAN GUIDELINES

  • On Fulton Street: Use the sidewalk by the church and the walkthrough gate by 2nd grade to enter the school from the outer parking lot. DO NOT use the pathway along the black wrought-iron gate OR the school’s exit driveway as this pedestrian path has a significant blind spot that puts pedestrians in danger.
  • On School Street: Use the walkthrough gate by the Science Lab. Do not block traffic in the neighborhood.
  • The School Street Car Gate is not opened for morning or afternoon carline. Only the Fulton Street Car Gates are opened for our arrival and departures.
  • Parents planning on staying for assembly should park in the basketball courts or as directed by staff and walk to the identified crosswalk (the cones) to cross traffic. A staff member will stop traffic to cross you at that point.

DRIVING GUIDELINES

  • Please DRIVE SLOWLY. Our Morning Drop Off has a BLIND SPOT in the parish parking lot.
  • A staff member will be stationed to help direct traffic as needed by the school carpool exit area in the morning.
  • STAY IN THE VEHICLE LINE DURING CARLINE. FOLLOW THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. It is like a line of ants ... and ants are really efficient when they work together.
  • Do not swerve around the line to leave the parking lot or leave through the gates. If you are unable to wait in the line, please legally park in the outer lot and walk to the classroom.
  • Pro-tip for arrival: students in 2nd through 8th grade do not have to be escorted out of their cars by staff, they grab their backpacks and lunches, say goodbye and can hop out of the car! Students in TK-1st should drive all the way to the staff that are waiting in carline and get help.
  • Pro-tip for arrival: 7:40 a.m. is a great time to be in carline ... drive up, drop off, drive out. 7:55 is the WORST time to drop off as there is often a line and your child will likely be considered tardy.
  • Pro-tip for departure: once we get the car line really going good … if you arrive at around 3:10 p.m., you can usually drive right up with no wait. If your child says they are getting picked up and you are not later than 3:15 in the parking lot, students will not be signed into Extended Care.
  • SHARE WITH THE ANYONE WHO PICKS UP OR DROPS OFF YOUR STUDENT.
