1st Grade Rocket Scientists

Fine motor skills: folding, taping, cutting. The first grade students built paper rockets using lots of tape and paper. They each built three rockets expecting failed launches like real rockets hoping that one will fly. They launched on the blacktop as a crowd of students watched: 3…2…1 and pressed the big red button! Poof! Some flew high (80 feet?), some flew low, some didn’t make it off the launcher. But they all had fun learning about rocketry, thrust, and air pressure.
