Making Strides Against Breast Cancer - our Why!

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk
The month of October is designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Sadly, over 290,000 citizens, women and men, will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. Not too long-ago hearing “you have breast cancer” was usually a death sentence. This need not be the case now.

Through the work of the AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY and its many volunteers great strides have been made in fighting breast cancer and other cancers. The keys are education through making all aware, through valuable ongoing research, through making the latest life-saving treatments available, and through providing support for cancer patients and their families.  Cancer spares no community and has impacted the Assumption Community.

For the last 18 plus years during the month of October the Assumption school community of Students, Faculty, and Parents have focused on breast cancer awareness month. Even though Covid19 hampered somewhat the efforts of the last 2 years, Assumption School is coming back and Assumption parishioners are invited to join. The key program is: MAKING STRIDES AGAINST BREAST CANCER or MSABC.
Throughout the month of October Assumption school will conduct fun fundraisers. Sunday, Oct 16 is the MAKING STRIDES AGAINST BREAST CANCER walk at Chrissy Field in San Francisco.  Assumption School has commandeered a bus to transport those wishing to join the walk on Oct 16. Assumption Parishioners are invited to join.

Long time parishioner Denis Ducey, who lost his wife Marnelle to breast cancer in 2005, has joined the fight against breast cancer for over 20 years. He is committed to do all he can so no one else will die from this terrible disease. Denis has a web page:
