Dear Assumption Families,
Welcome to Assumption School for the 2020-2021 school year. I feel like I have been sharing with you all summer and I hope this has helped you feel connected and informed. Summer was full of reflecting, learning, and collaborating at many levels - with parents and stakeholders in the School Board, PTG, and Foundation, with the Site Planning Committee, Fr. Leonard and the Parish Staff, Diocese of Oakland Department of Schools, and Alameda County Health Department and Office of Education — all working to provide a unique Assumption School Community experience.
I am so pleased to officially announce the new (or redefined) faces of our school community. I welcome Ms. Diana Robles (first grade), Mrs. Kathleen Enriquez (fifth grade), Ms. Isabel Gregorio, (4 - 8 Science), and Mrs. Karen Barbera (4 - 8 Art). We also have some new but familiar faces in our Instructional Assistants with Mrs. Katherine Rubio (first, second grades and library) and Mrs. Christine Wolf (Science). Familiar faces have new roles including Mrs. Andrea Contreras (kindergarten aide, primary motor skills, and Spanish instructor) and Mrs. Mary Munoz (primary art, science, and library). Finally, we are happy to have Mr. Rick Barros as our new facility manager. Each of our new faculty and staff bring experience, passion, and creativity to education. I am excited they are joining our already committed and wonderful faculty and staff.
I have already shared in our first Assumption Life sent via email last week our School COVID-19 Addendum to our handbook. This important document provides key information about how learning will look in our Distance Learning protocol as well as how it will transition to the Hybrid Learning schedule. It works in tandem with our Parent/Student Handbook for 2020-2021. More details will be provided during our virtual Back To School Night on August 27.
