Mathematics Program
“I am a mathematician,” writes an Assumption student.
“I understand math and enjoy it,” another student states.
I would have felt the same way had I experienced math as a student at Assumption School. Thankfully, I am a teacher here. Coming to this school three years ago, I was so impressed with how the math program had half sized classes in grades 5 through 8 and had devoted a brand new room to the use of math! But these were only few of the great qualities of the math program.
Years ago, our present principal, Pam Lyons, taught math at Assumption School and brought about many new changes in the math program. The school adopted a new math series, which emphasized cumulative review throughout the year, and hands on materials were used in addition. Through the years, other teachers brought great ideas to the math program and have made Assumption School’s math program A+ quality.
