Assumption School’s computer lab is equipped with 20 new Apple eMac computers, which will accommodate either half classes for independent work, or whole classes for group projects. In addition to the computer lab, each classroom has at least 2 computers available to all students. The school has wireless Internet access and is network connected.

The Assumption School technology program is based on integrating computer skills into everyday curriculum. The technology coordinator works closely with each homeroom teacher to coordinate lessons and projects based on subject classroom learning.

Students in grades kindergarten through second grade make weekly visits to the computer lab. Their class work is incorporated into computer lessons in the lab using software such as KidPix and Kidspiration, and Internet research.

Grades three through eight are trained on software such as Hyperstudio, Microsoft Word and Excel, Inspiration and PowerPoint. Internet research for all subject areas is also greatly utilized. PowerPoint affords them creativity with subject matter, as well as practice with oral presentations. Also offered to students in grades three through eight is a six-week session in keyboarding. Students challenge themselves to increase their keyboarding skills in both speed and accuracy through our Type-to- Learn program.

The Assumption Computer Lab is a great place for students to explore, learn and enjoy the process.
