The Assumption School Fine Arts program is a structured program introducing students in grades 4 - 8 to the subject of art through weekly skill instruction, art appreciation, and art history by an experienced artist.

Over the course of the school year, students are introduced to a variety of artists through art activity and study. Original artwork, slides, videos and prints are used in the classroom as well as first person presentations. Students experience the styles, techniques, and lives of artists and great masters.

Assumption students develop technical skill through classroom art instruction in areas such as painting, drawing, and sculpture. In addition, instruction in composition, color, and perspective encourage student’s creative artistic endeavors.

Twice yearly students are given the opportunity to present their work to the community. At the Lillian Black Art Festival, Assumption School participates with other diocesan primary and high schools in displaying exceptional work completed throughout the school year. During Catholic Schools Week, students participate in an art show and open house at Assumption School.
